Story

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Mike Zaharczuk, lovingly known as Michael Z. Mike passed away suddenly on May 21, 2025. He was 70 years old and still working hard with his window business. Not only has his business been struggling since COVID, he also suffered a severe back injury two years ago that set his finances back even further. He was out of work for several months.

Mike returned to work as soon as he was able. As time went on, things were becoming more difficult for Mike, and he could not bring his business back to what it was. Because he didn’t want Mary to have to sell her home, he took a second job driving for Uber.

Everyone who knows Mike knows that he loved to talk and tell what we called his “Dad” jokes. Mike loved meeting new people and sharing his stories and unique sense of humor. The Uber job was perfect for Mike; he really enjoyed it, and it helped him to make ends meet.

Mike was a Cardinal Dougherty graduate. He had an exciting life traveling through Europe and the world. We all heard his travel stories many, many, many times. He was a confirmed bachelor until he met Mary and her daughter Tara. They both stole his heart. The addition of their son Michael completed their happy family. Mike always talked about how proud he was of the adults his kids became. He attributed all their good qualities to Mary. He was also proud of his grandchildren and thought the world of them.

Unfortunately, all the years Mike spent dedicated to supporting his family, he did not have the finances to settle down and enjoy a retirement. The morning of his death, he was planning his work schedule for Uber and setting up jobs for the following week. His family is left mourning their loss as well as trying to tie up all the loose ends. Mary is left mourning her loss and trying to make ends meet without the support of her husband.

If you find it within your heart to help, I kindly ask you to consider donating to assist them during this difficult time. Even a small contribution can have a profound impact. Your support would not only help meet their immediate needs but also remind them that they are surrounded by good friends and a compassionate community that cares.
